BTA website goes live

The BTA’s long-awaited website is live. I think you’ll like it. I do. Big kudos go out to the talented folks at Grapheon Design for donating their skills to the cause.
I think it’s pretty cool they’ve got a blog. Evan just posted something about the Albright/TriMet thing that’s worth a read (and I’ll forgive him for linking to the Oregonian’s coverage instead of mine)*. I tried to comment but it didn’t let me…hopefully that will be resolved soon.
I’m curious to see what they’ll do with comments. I think open (moderated) comments are essential…but because they’re a well-known, politically active non-profit they might attract some crazies. If that happens, it could become a drain on staff resources just to respond and deal with them.
Either way, here’s to the new site!
*Update: [Just to clarify on the crossed out words above, I was first to publish anything on this story, but I found out about it through another source whose story wasn’t published until 4 days after mine]. See comments below for more info.

To be fair, Jonathon, didn't you say in your original post about Randy and the TriMet bus that it was an Oregonian reporter who initially told you about the lawsuit in a conversation? So isn't it a bit disingenuous to act like you found out about the story on your own, when you wouldn't have known about it without talking to The Oregonian reporter who discovered the lawsuit?

evolvetobikes, you make a great point and I shouldn't forget where I got the story to begin with. In the initial version of my post I gave all the credit to Tony Green (the O writer) right at the beginning of the post but later removed it at Tony's request.
But you're right, my comment in the post above is not cool because it infers that I was first with the story, when I was only the first to publish something. I will strike out that part of the post.

I wrote to BTA because I wanted to comment online about their blog design. Looks good! However, I was unwilling to comment because in order to do so one needs a WordPress login. I probably have one somewhere here, but that's beside the point. Unless the BTA blog is meant to be somewhat restrictive in its comment fields, I suggested to them they implement a plugin which liberates commenting and yet still authenticates and de-spams comments. I posted here as well so others can check out the "issue" as well.

Hey, PUG, sorry it was annoying. I'm not the one who is implementing all the aspects of our blog, so I don't know whether this is just a glitch as we get rolling or rather a "feature," but I will pass along your comment to the web team, yes? We definitely want the community to be able to log in, and we just need to also limit the comment spam we receive.

Getting back to you: the web peeps tell me that they're still working out the many kinks in our migration to a new site, but we'll open it up to general comments in a week or two. Hope that works for you.
