Welcome to my mostly-weekly video roundup! I’ve gone through about a hundred videos this week, and I’m starting off by featuring this fantastic video of Darren Alff’s tour of Norway and Sweden. He has a great recording style and the terrain is beautiful. Also, he’s riding a Co-Motion, how great is that?

Ted’s Video Roundup: Vision Zero 101, cycling anime, LA gravel, and more
Welcome to my mostly-weekly video roundup! Today seems as good as any other day to watch bike videos. Right? I’ve watched about 100 bike videos this week so I can share the best with you.
We’re starting on a safety/wonky/political note this week- a fantastic overview of Vision Zero. Watch the first 40 seconds for this: “mobility is a basic human right. No one should have to risk their life to get to work, to go shopping, or to go out with a friend.” While talking about systematic safety, “we’re human, a system that is safe only if people don’t make mistakes is not a system that is made for humans.”
Ted’s Video Roundup: Bikes on Amtrak, Zwift HQ tour, Powertap factory, and more
Welcome to the first Video Roundup of 2017! Since I missed a few weeks there are a lot of videos. I watched about 150 videos this week so we can show you the best.
First up is this video from Giant/Liv. I usually shy away from featuring a promo/marketing video, but this is low-key with beautiful footage.
Ted’s Video Roundup, Special Gift Edition
This is my Gift Guide Video Roundup! Sure, it’s getting to be late for Christmas, but many of these videos were recently posted. I’m still a few dozen entries behind on videos for the Weekly Roundup, but I came across these that made sense to post together. I’m starting with GCN’s gift list (above). Enjoy!
Ted’s Weekly Video Roundup: Climbing hills, SSCXWC, gift ideas, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! Sure, it’s an icy mess in Portland right now, but I have some videos to entertain you and cheer you up.
Our first video (above) is the latest from Col Collective, which features Italy’s Colle delle Finestre. (the descent is posted, too; it’s very relaxed, no narration)
Weekly Video Roundup: Seattle visit, how carbon wheels are made, midpriced bike torture
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! Last week was busy, with a train trip to Seattle for a no-friends no-family Thanksgiving. So I’m back to playing catchup – there are about 60 videos in the queue for next week already. So this week’s entries are on the short side, but they are still great!
The video above is from ‘Bike Kill NYC’, which is … I can’t summarize it any better than Gothamist: “a few hundred bike punks riding mutant welded art-cycles and throwing weird shit at each other in an endless counter-clockwise beer gyre while onlookers partied to the searing riffs of live metal bands”.
Weekly Video Roundup: fixie touring, ode to TCR, unwritten rules of MTB, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! I managed to almost get caught up on my video queue, which makes me pleased. I’m starting the week with a video below that shows Danny MacAskill‘s great trials riding. My favorite scenes were the hay bale and the puddle. Make sure to keep the video rolling for the bloopers and “making of” bits.
Weekly Video Roundup: Dream roads in Bali, a WTF moment, bagel slicing, local ‘cross, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! Sorry for skipping a week of the roundup. Perhaps one of these weeks I’ll actually catch up on my video queue. This first video is the best thing I’ve seen in a while. I like pro bike racing, and the GCN crew did a fun and creative race on Majorca’s Sa Calobra (aka Col del Reis). What really clinched it as a great video to me is that Carlton Kirby did the commentary- he is probably the best-known voice on Eurosport for racing (not just cycling, also Paris-Dakar and more). Anyhow, enjoy.
Weekly Video Roundup: Riding in North Korea, ‘Cross at Cascade Locks, Glady-ators, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! It was a good and wild week for me- I went on a fantastic muddy ride last Sunday, there were tons of hikers, runners, and cyclists out despite the weather. Anyhow, here’s a great pile of vids to enjoy over the weekend. We’re starting with Brumotti, who never fails to entertain with his bike-handling. Notably, he shows some ways to avoid the gaps next to streetcar tracks.
Weekly Video Roundup: bike lock picking, winter prep, Tom Ritchey, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup!
I made sure to get a ride in on Wednesday before the crazy weather started. Now I’m mostly hunkering down with the cats. It’s clear the weather has started to turn. River City Bikes did a video about “winter-proofing” your bike last year, and it’s a good time to show it again. (Also: Russ of PLP shows a zillion ways to wear a Buff and gives good glove strategies)
Weekly Video Roundup: ending oppression, mathematical theories of driving, and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup!
Cycle Oregon was great, and I’m still trying to catch up from that and other chaos. Thankfully I’ve had time to review a big batch of videos. I actually have more in the queue but don’t want to make this post too long, so I’ll continue catching up over the coming weeks. When I saw the above video I knew it was the right one to feature- what says overthrowing oppression and defying a fatwa better than a bicycle? It’s been happening for 135+ years, leading to women’s suffarage and women wearing pants, and perhaps even the entire feminist movement.
Weekly Video Roundup: A Sunday in Hell, the science of steep climbing and more
Welcome to the weekly video roundup! There were some interesting videos this week, but I felt like none were feature-worthy. So I’m going back to the vault. This is 1976’s “A Sunday in Hell”. It shows 100 minutes on the Paris-Roubaix race including Eddy Merckx. Enjoy. I’m watching it again as I’m posting this. (also: this race is alluded to below- +3 internet points for the first person to spot it)
