It’s that time again … when you realize that Pedalpalooza is almost over for the year and you’d better savor its final week. Here are a few highlights of bike fun from the seven days to come.
LET’S MAKE A MOVIE!
Sunday June 22, 6:30 pm. “Ride with us to scenic spots around town and we’ll film a fun, non-narrative movie together celebrating the bicycle! Footage will be edited and shared online after the ride.”
NO HANDS OLYMPICS
Sunday June 22, 7 pm. A fun annual tradition including no-hands mountain biking, speed racing and a prize for the slowest lap. Mas and other spectators encouraged.
SHOWGIRLS: THE RIDE
Monday June 23, 5:30 pm. A strictly 21+ ride “devoted to the worst/best movie of the 90s, SHOWGIRLS, darlin’!” Optional stop(s) at strip club(s); ends with a film screening/drinking game.

DING DING RIDE!
Tuesday June 24, 7:30 pm. “From exactly 7:30-7:33pm (3 whole minutes!) I will be riding my bike around the Ladd’s Addition traffic circle ringing my little bell loudly. Everyone is invited to join! … All you need is a bike, a bell, and watch. Hawthorne food carts after!”
PHOTOBOOTH RIDE
Wednesday June 25, 7 pm. “A fun casual ride to some of Portland’s photo booths (mostly in bars). Bring some change and some props for photo booth fun.”
EXPLORE THE GREEN BIKE LOOP
Thursday June 26, 1-3 pm. “Downtown needs more north-south bike routes. The Tilikum bridge needs a connection to PSU. Riders thru the Lloyd District need an easier way to cross I-5 and I-84. The Green Loop plan could solve these problems, if it moves from an idea into reality.”
THE SPROCKETTES RIDE
Friday June 27, 7 pm. Pull out your hot pink and black to celebrate 10 years of Portland’s amazing women’s bike dance troupe with an interactive tour and mini-bike-friendly route.
LOUD’N’LIT RIDE
Saturday June 28, 8pm-4am. “Closing out Pedalpalooza with a bang fo sho.”

Fun fun fun in the sun!
And a big thank you for all the volunteers at SHIFTtoBIkes for the annual thankless grunt work to set the stage for on the best grassroots bike celebrations in the USofA!
And also a big pat on the back for those who took the leap and organized their first event…moving from spectator to participant to event planner is what keeps PP strong in its second decade!!!
