Sunday Parkways is still awesome (and it happens this Sunday)

Sunday Parkways Northeast 2011-3-12

You never know what you’ll see at Sunday Parkways, like this pedal-powered gecko I spotted on NE Ainsworth in 2011.

Sunday Parkways is now in its sixth year. What started on this week in 2008 as a crazy idea imported from Bogota, is now firmly ensconced as a local institution that’s above politics or yearly budgetary wrangling. But with age and permanence, I hope it hasn’t lost its novelty. I also think there’s a tendency for some folks to take it for granted. Hopefully that’s not the case, but if you needed some additional prodding to get out there on Sunday, I thought I’d share a few photos to remind you how awesome it is.

Besides these photos, you’ll be inspired to know that PBOT has organized a bunch of fun activities, live music, and good food at Woodlawn, Alberta, and Fernhill parks, as well as Rigler School. You can see the map and learn more about the event on PBOT’s website.

It’s an event you don’t want to miss, because you never know what you’ll see…

Like Ted from Bike Temple spraying people with a hose…

I love Sunday Parkways, and I’ve ridden in several of them every year. Each SP event is different than the previous.
