Advisory: NBC series closes highway bridge over Sandy River
If you are headed out to ride in the Columbia River Gorge this weekend, note the press release below that was just released by ODOT:
NBC series filming on bridge over Sandy River
Permit for “Grimm” allows 12-hour closure of Historic Columbia River Highway bridge
The Historic Columbia River Highway bridge over the Sandy River will close for up to 12 hours at 3 p.m. Friday Sept. 9 to allow the NBC TV show “Grimm” to shoot scenes.
ODOT granted a permit allowing NBC Universal/Open 4 Business Productions to close the bridge from 3 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday. The permit also allows the company to close the bridge for up to five minutes at a time from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday to hang lights on the bridge trusses, with traffic control by Troutdale police.
The bridge, the western portal to the Historic Columbia River Highway and known as the Troutdale Bridge, will remain open at all times to emergency vehicles.
The crew will also be filming Monday at Multnomah Falls.

Over 2,000 Cycle Oregon riders set for coastal journey
The massive rolling spectacle that is Cycle Oregon embarks on it 24th annual journey this Sunday (9/11). For the first time since the inaugural running in 1988, the seven-day ride will spend multiple days on the beautiful Oregon coast.
About 2,200 riders will participate, along with a support crew that numbers well into the hundreds.
Back in February when the route was announced and registration opened up, the ride sold out in less than two days. To get an idea of why, here’s the route description:

Buffered bike lanes on SE Holgate get some love
After all the media attention and anger that accompanied the buffered bike lanes installed by the City on SE Holgate Blvd back in August 2009, it looks like someone wanted to show them some love.
Reader and nearby resident Gretchin Lair just sent in the photo below of red hearts that have been placed on the bike lane symbols. “I love stuff like this,” she wrote in, “Outer SE doesn’t have a lot of stealth art projects, and I especially love ones that are playful and kindhearted.”
I haven’t confirmed who’s responsible for this, but my hunch is that the activist group We Heart Holgate is behind them. Check out the photo after the jump…
