Remember the Circulus mini-velodrome? It’s the 132-foot circumference wooden track and former art project that was purchased by local bike company Portland Design Works.
Since PDW bought the track earlier this year and then set it up in their warehouse just off N Williams Avenue, it has become quite popular.
Given the interest in Circulus, it’s turning out to be a brilliant $3,500 marketing expense. In a few weeks, PDW will pack up the track and ship it to Las Vegas, where it will be a centerpiece on the sprawling floor of the Sands Convention Center at the Interbike bicycle industry trade show .
But before it leaves Portland, there is big fun to be had. Behold Portland’s first-ever indoor, head-to-head bicycle pursuit race…
Roll over to the PDW Mothership at 15 NE Hancock this Saturday (6:30 pm if you want to race, 8:00 pm if you just want to watch). The party is being hosted by Yakima Products and will feature DJ Amanda Sundvor. More info on PDW’s website.
