Description: Covered in red spray paint that’s peeling off, with tons of stickers, and pink duct tape holding on a back light that’s broken. One of the stickers says, “THIS BIKE IS A PIPEBOMB”, but don’t worry, it’s not – that’s just a band silly! Also, the handlebars are the curly kind with foam that’s ripped up and falling off of them.

Yeah…it’s got some serious sentimental value, so I’d be willing to give a reward…uh, of, say…10 bucks?

We’ve got more reaction and analysis on the infamous disappearing bike lane decision.

First, a quick review: Carmen Piekarski was right-hooked by a woman driving a car while biking through an intersection. Multnomah County Judge Pro Tem Michael Zusman ruled that the person driving was not guilty of “failure to yield to a bicyclist in a bike lane” because the paint striping of the bike lane was not present in the intersection where the collision occurred (therefore the victim was not “in the bike lane”).

City announces dates, locations for 2010 Sunday Parkways

The City of Portland has announced dates for four of their five Sunday Parkways events they’ll host in 2010.

Here you go:

  • May 16 – Northeast Sunday Parkways connecting Wilshire, Fernhill, Alberta, and Woodlawn Parks
  • June 27 – North Sunday Parkways connecting Peninsula, Arbor Lodge, and Kenton Parks
  • July 18 – East Portland Sunday Parkways connecting Lents and Ed Benedict Parks
  • August 15 – Southeast Sunday Parkways – connecting Col. Summers, Laurelhurst, and Sunnyside Parks

No details yet on the fifth event. Stay tuned for that as well as route maps.

At 4:30 am this morning, a Portland Police officer issued a Portland man a notice of exclusion and warning for trespassing because he was riding his bicycle through Waterfront Park while the park was closed.

Matt Cleinman, a 25-year old resident of Northwest Portland was biking home from work when he came upon a Portland Police Officer who he says was “rousing homeless folks” under the Burnside Bridge. Cleinman, who told us he is very concerned about “criminalizing homelessness” says he then stopped his bike to ask the officer what was going on.
