This cornucopia of bike events starts on Thanksgiving day with a chance to work off that turkey (or turkey flavored product) before you even sit down at the table, followed by plenty of opportunity for calorie burning and a chance to rest on Sunday.

Thursday, November 25th

8:00am-10:00am: Thanksgiving Mellow Morning Ride
The first of two stomach preparedness-themed events, this leisurely off-road ride hosted by local bike builders, Stop Cycles winds down the Leif Erikson trail through Forest Park for a few hours early in the morning. Group meets at the trail entrance at the end of NW Thurman St. More information and RSVP contact available on the Shift website.

10:00am-1:00pm: Appetite Enhancement Ride
This Turkey Day staple has been a part of Sacramento’s bike scene for 23 years, and the Portland public proudly adopted their own spin-off last year. Enjoy the nearly car-free utopia that is Portland during Thanksgiving as you ride around town with the group in preparation for the big meal. Ride meets at Red and Black Cafe at 400 SE 12th Ave.

Friday, November 26th

1:30pm: Fancy Scarf Ride
You’ve been waiting all year to wrap up in something pretty, and now is your chance to show off your favorite muffler. Join the museum lady, Carye Bye and her cohort Dan in this leisurely, participant-driven ride-about-town to stretch the legs and flex their best neck fashion.

4:00pm – 8:00pm: Kalkhoff Bikes One Anniversary Party
Stop by and congratulate local e-bike retailer Kalkhoff USA (528 Northwest 11th Ave) for a sucessful first year in business.

8:30pm: North Freak Christmas Caroling Ride
A very special edition of the North Freak bike club’s monthly ride. Meet at Irving Park and get ready to ride and sing with friends and freak bikes! Bring Thanksgiving leftovers for a pre-ride potluck.

Saturday, November 27th

1:30pm-5:30pm: Progressive Food Carties Ride
Join photographer and food cart aficionado, Scott Batchelar on an easy-paced, family friendly tour of some of Portland’s favorite food cart pods. Meet at Smith Hall on the PSU Farmers Market grounds at SW Harrison St and Broadway.
