What’s a little rain? At least it isn’t freezing this weekend. (The good news is that if icy conditions did get you down, literally, support is out there.)

There are plenty of opportunities this weekend to go out and enjoy bike fun, either out in the elements or indoors somewhere warm. Here are the highlights:

Thursday, December 17

5:00pm – 7:00pm: Car-Free Happy Hour
Meet other folks who are trying to reduce car dependence, in their personal life or through their work, over a beer or hot tea at Floyd’s Coffeshop in Old Town (118 NW Couch).

7:00pm: Ben and Ted’s Transportation Conversation II

After the happy hour, head over to ON Gallery (321 NW 6th Ave #101) for a continuing conversation about how to take action on regional transportation issues. All are welcome.

6:30pm – 8:30pm: East Portland Action Plan Bike Subcommittee Meeting
Come learn about and discuss the next year in bike- — rides, infrastructure, and Sunday Parkways — at Muchas Gracias, 1307 NE 102nd Ave (northeast corner of Gateway Fred Meyer shopping center).

Friday, December 18

Noon – 1:00pm: BTA Input Session on Executive Director Search
BTA members are invited to give input on a draft job description and more generally on the organization’s search for a new leader. RSVP details on website. At p:ear, 338 NW 6th Ave.

I promise to everyone that, though you know me as an ad hoc St. Johns booster, the ride will end up relatively close-in to where it started and NOT in St. Johns. So don’t let the idea of a long ride keep you away 😉

Last week we did leave the house to PIR’s bike night, but decided the extended ride wasn’t such a brilliant idea in the super cold. And now the rescheduled ride has Neon Bar stops. hooray! We leave Mississippi Street around 8pm.
