Shift celebrates four years of bike fun
Shift to Bikes—a grassroots group that sets the standard for promoting bike fun—celebrates their fourth anniversary this weekend with four special events you won’t want to miss.
The fun starts with a special Birthday Breakfast on the Bridges tomorrow morning and it ends with a Shift picnic in Laurelhurst Park on Sunday. Check out their home page for all the details.
Since their start in 2002, Shift has remained an all-volunteer force that has had a huge impact on the local bike scene. They’re the folks behind such Portland institutions as Breakfast on the Bridges, the Multnomah County Bike Fair, bike moves, Pedalpalooza, the Get Lit program and much more.

CCC mural completed, celebration planned
The Community Cycling Center (CCC) has just announced that the beautiful new mural painted on the side of their retail store on NE Alberta Street is finished! In honor of everyone that made it happen, the CCC plans to hold a party and celebration on Sunday, September 10th from 3-6PM.
The whimsical and vibrant mural was created by local artist Robin Corbo and made possible by a $15,000 grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC). Corbo has worked since July with her crew of volunteers to complete the 1,100 square foot painting. Here’s more from the CCC press release:
An update on the Stolen Bike Listings
You might have noticed that I just posted 72 stolen bike listings. Sorry for the onslaught (especially those of you that read via my RSS feed) but I can explain everything.
But before I do, check out this video clip from FOX News (KPTV) that aired a few days ago. It features an interview with yours truly as well as someone who recovered their bike here on BikePortland.org.
OK, back to the explaining…
