PDOT and the Community Cycling Center have unveiled an ad they hope will ratchet up the visibility of their new “See and Be Seen” campaign.
Below is the ad they plan to unveil tonight at the Bike Light Parade, which is the official kickoff to the campaign:

The Waypost, a European-style bar/cafe at 3120 N Williams (a few blocks south of Fremont), has declared December “Bicycle Love Month.” There will be endless happy hour for customers who arrive by bike, and a showing of the film “A Sunday in Hell” on December 14th. On December 7th, Brian Manning from the Community Cycling Center will be lecturing on “Bicycle Maintenance During Wartime”
And according to their website they’ll show everyone’s fave bike movie, Quicksilver on December 5th.
Today at City Council, Commissioner Sam Adams proposed an amendment to the city budget that would allocate $100,000 in seed money for a “Tour de Portland” style stage race.
I just received the bicycle citation numbers from the Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division (the Traffic Division writes 80% of all tickets in the Portland metro area). I took the numbers and made a few charts.
The current Oregon statutes governing the operation of a motor vehicle in a bike lane are confusing and unclear. The Portland Police Bureau found this out the hard way and they want to find a solution and have the laws fixed for good at the upcoming legislative session in Salem.
Today and tomorrow are the final days to enter November’s BikePortland Benefit Raffle. This time of year, the headquarters of the Community Cycling Center on NE Alberta street is like Santa’s workshop; complete with elves, toys for the kids, and a magical sense of anticipation for the Big Day.
