Cafe takes bike theme to new level: The Zoobomb Sandwich

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on September 17th, 2007 at 9:46 am

What’ll you have?

You might remember when I shared the news of The Little Red Bike Cafe back in July. The new eatery just opened and word has spread about their bike-centric menu.

As you can see in the graphic at right, they’ve got a breakfast sandwich called the Zoobomb, named after that fun-loving group of MAX-riding mini-bikers. They also serve up a The Messenger and the Paperboy Special.

In addition to bikey-named food selections (and coffee by Courier Coffee Roasters), they’ve also teamed up with national Safe Routes to School guru, and ex-BTA staffer Robert Ping. Ping — who now works for the Safe Routes to School National Partnership — lives down the street from the new cafe.

According to the cafe’s blog, they’re planning a Grand Opening/Ice Cream Social on September 29th that will benefit the Safe Routes to School program at nearby Portsmouth Middle School.

Keep up with all the latest Little Red Bike Cafe news on their blog.

Went there Sunday morning - great people, great food, great coffee. The only thing they need is more bike parking.

    Cheers. Janis

That sounds like a mighty-tasty sandwich. Our lawyers are seeking an amicable sandwich-based settlement for use of the Zoobomb (TM) name. Do they serve Sparks?

This is the peoples republic of portland, no one person owns the term Zoobomb, it is owned by the proletariat.

As long as the profits from the sandwich go to the common good all is well.

Anyone who has a lawyer is not a member of the proletariat!!!

The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

We live a few blocks away and can vouch for the high quality of the Zoobomb sandwich, along with the cafe as a whole. Unbelievably friendly owners and staff, amazing food and courier coffee - what more could you ask for? The place just has a great vibe. Finally, a place in the neighborhood for those of us craving a place to meet and gather in the early part of the day.

Oh man! You beat me to it, Maus! I'm in the process of planning a ZB breakfast with the owners! I was going to see if you wanted to stop by when it's coordinated and take some shots of zoobombers eating themselves, instead of pavement!
