New York Times focuses on a Portland family

The Fashion and Style section of today’s New York Times features a gear test of family biking products.
Chosen as testers and photographed for the story were Portland couple Nick Fenger and Karen Werstein along with their 2 year-old son Max and his friend Aidan Kinney.
I love the introductory blurb that accompanies the photos:
“…thanks to miles of new bike paths paid for with federal money over the last two years…cycling is becoming more accessible and less intimidating for parents who are serious bicyclists looking to take their small children along for a ride…”
Nick and Karen tested various trailers, child seats, and even a bakfiets.

Has anyone tried one of those "Weeride Kangeroo" child seats on a road bike? I'd never seen those, and wonder if they would work... I'm guessing not, due to the riders positioning/posture?

we have used a weeride on a hybrid/city bike, and loved it, but no, I don't think it would work well on a road bike. my daughter is tall (although only two years old) and I am pretty short, and even on the hybrid I was starting to feel like she was in the way. we just switched to a rear mount seat. but the weeride was great when she was smaller!

It seems to me that slowly but surely, our bike friendliness is earning us a certain degree of national fame. This pleases me. ^_^
