Silver 44cm Bianchi Brava:
Stolen from SE 9th and Ash st. (directly next to the old La Luna Building) Saturday night between 7pm and 11:30pm. It’s a very small frame bike because I am 5″2 and I want it back because it’s the only bike that fits me.

Local framebuilder, and ex-bike messenger Ira Ryan covered 300+ miles of gravel roads in 25 hours to win the third annual Trans-Iowa Endurance Race.
Ira, who also won the inaugural edition of the event in 2005, beat out 120 other racers for the win.
According to live audio updates provided by ultra-endurance website Ride424.com, Ira soloed for the final 12 hours of the event and was only challenged 20 miles from the finish, when he pulled away from a Polish rider on one of the final climbs.

As promised, Mayor Tom Potter has released a statement about his decision to not provide funding for the Bicycle Master Plan Update process:
Office of Mayor Tom Potter
City of Portland
Thank you for emailing me about the proposed budget and the Platinum Bicycle Master Plan. For this budget, we were faced with an unprecedented number of requests and priorities. All of these requests have real merit; obviously, not all can be met.
The Hollywood Transit Center, at the intersection of NE Halsey and 42nd (map), has gotten some bike love from the City of Portland.
The crucial north-south connection has long been a thorn in the side of cyclists trying to get over I-84. Southbound cyclists have been forced to contend with a TriMet bus stop loop and stairs leading up to a footbridge. The existing ramp was not designed for bicycles (but I think it’s fun!).
Thankfully, PDOT has just finished some upgrades. They have installed bike wheel gutters on the stairs and have added bike boulevard signs to help cyclists find their way.
Gary Fisher Sugar 4+. Blue, 19 inch full suspension mountain bike. Stolen from the back of my car…sad.

(*Editor’s note, 4/29): My initial report got some facts wrong. I have tried to clean things up and I’ve added in more details. I regret the errors.
I wasn’t there, but I just read the news on the Oregonian Blog that things got a little out of hand at Last Thursday on Alberta last night.
From the reports (which were confusing, so I apologize if my facts are not 100% correct), about 200 people had gathered at NE 24th and Alberta Street and were dancing in the streets at about 11:00 pm. When the cops showed up to check things out, they got sidetracked by a drunk fight at NE 18th. From here the details are sketchy, but they involve a handgun, a taser, allegedly thrown bottles at cops, and so on…
