Sellwood Cyclery to expand…into Mexico

Posted by Jonathan Maus (Editor) on January 12th, 2007 at 2:08 pm

[Future home of Sellwood Cyclery in Oaxaca Mex.]

Much loved local bike shop Sellwood Cyclery will open a second location this Summer in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. I just learned the news on their shop blog and called co-owner Steven Landon to find out more.

Turns out Landon owns a home in Puerto Escondido, a small town in Oaxaca province, and he plans to move down there some day. He’s already found a spot (see photo above) and will be all moved in by June.

Even though Landon will be be spending more and more time in Mexico, the current Sellwood Cyclery will stay right where it is. He said he’s put together a great team and the shop, “Will probably run better when I’m gone.”

Good luck Steve, I hope I can take you up on that Oaxacan coffee someday.

Wow, I look forward to stopping by sometime like I do with their Sellwood shop. I've been to Puerto Escondido; lovely place, but do watch out for the sharks and the very very determined ants.

Wow - very cool. I haven't been to Puerto Escondido since 1983 - it was pretty isolated then but on the verge of "discovery" - one thing it lacked was a great bike shop - now it's got that, it must be close to perfect
