Bacchetta founders at Coventry Cycles tonight

Sorry for the late notice but wanted to let everyone know about an neat event happening tonight at Coventry Cycle Works (2025 SE Hawthorne).
The founders of Bacchetta Bikes, John Schlitter and Rich Pinto, are in town for the Race Across Oregon and there will be a party in their honor at the shop.
There will be a Q&A session and a preview of their entire line including their latest and greatest model, the Carbon Aero. If you are into recumbents (or just neat bikes in general) this is an event you won’t want to miss.
The party starts at 6:00 and there will be door prizes.
While you’re there, say hi to Sherman Coventry, owner of the shop and supporter of Portland’s recumbent scene. Here’s a photo of Sherman taken at the recent Human Powered Challenge.

They should rename Coventry Cycle Works to Crumudgeon Cycle Works...that would be much more descriptive... ;)

They have been nice to me :)
If I start a shop it will be called Retrogrouch.

The guys in that shop are always friendly and talkative to me, too. Now there are some other shops I could mention... but I won't.

No problems for me either! In fact, I went there and test rode a bike, went on to buy a used bike elsewhere a week later, then took that used bike in to Coventry to fit a rack. I was practically begging for the cold shoulder... They recognized me, and were excited that I had found a good deal on the bike! Then one of the sales guys helped me fit racks and bags for over half an hour. Maybe it was a slow day, but that's some of the best service I've ever met up with.
Maybe it's because I'm a curmudgeon, too. Bah!

I say I need a noodle. They say there are manny different types of noodles. I say you know a normal noodle for mountain bike. They say you should bring in your old noodle. I say, shaking my fist, I'll show you a noodle. I bring in my old noodle. They don't have any of this type of noodle.

What size is your noodle? N/M

Aren't you glad they cared enough to not sell you the wrong noodle?

You people are crazy. Coventry is one of the best bike shops in town. Sherman is super knowledgable and always eager to help. As a woman, I have never been made to feel dumb or incompetent for bringing my bike in. I don't even ride a recumbent. There is no attitude at this shop, let alone grouchiness, just a sincere love of the bike.

I'm from Central Oregon, and I've heard nothing but great comments about Coventry. I am looking to buy a recumbent soon, meet Sherman in person, and if they treat me like I expect they will, they will have a customer for life! Let's get riding!
