2005 Cannondale XR1000 Cyclocross (red). Frame size: 56, disk brakes. Serial number: P104395.
Stolen Sunday 12:00 noon, August 28. Locked (cable lock) near front door of 24hr Fitness (Pearl) 1210 NW Johnson. Brazen theft as doors to gym were propped open, bike locked within 5 feet of doors, cable lock cut and left coiled up as a little present for me. PPB case number filed and opened.

the lock wasnt left coiled as a present -- since it could provide some forensic evidence in the near nil chance that the cops found the tool and the bike and the thief. the way you steal a cable locked bike is -- so i was told when i lost one -- you cut the lock, which is doable with a one handed tool!!-- and then you circle the block or walk away and return and then get on the bike and take off

I was at the Freddies in NE on 27th last Monday and on top of the trash can beside the bike parking was another "coiled up as a little present".
I thought most people already knew that CABLE LOCKS DON'T WORK.
Sorry about your bike. :-(

Thanks for the info guys, and I learned the hard way about cable locks. I did keep the "lock" as a reminder.
In response to the theft, I've bought and carry the heavy duty "New York" style lock by MasterLock. This lock is HEAVY!
