Ride Report: Shiva’s Slaves Midnight Special

Report
With ride attendance of about 80-100 people, the Shiva’s Slaves mob rolled out with a blaze. There were sadhu babas going crazy all over North Portland this night. The ride featured a rolling fire pit, a stop for the goat sacrifice where many were blessed with the blood, and finally we arrived at the mystery location where we encountered “Noiseum,” a super ambient group of musicians playing in the trees until the sun came up. A great adventure we all had, Bom Shankar!!!

2 weeks of bike fun!

Monday is a good day to recover from the weekend’s dense and diverse selection of bike fun. But even though planned events don’t get rolling until the crack of noon, the quality is high and there is a chance for the trifecta:
Bike/Ped Legal clinic –> Audible Signal Ride –> Eine Brise performance on Mt Tabor. Whatever your choices, be safe and enjoy. Bonus points for bringing someone who does not typically pedal.

Share the fun with our Ride Report Form. We’ll be posting some of these and all the Pedalpalooza news that’s fit to print over on our Pedalpalooza Special Coverage Page.

Ride Description

Ride Report
The most successful Splash Dance of all time! We couldn’t have been luckier on the weather. It was sunny and toasty for the entire ride, excluding perhaps the ‘car wash’ fountain, which seems to be in some freaky wind tunnel. The attendees of the Saturday Market didn’t know what hit them at the Skidmore Fountain. The kids at the Jameson fountain couldn’t have been happier to have more playmates. Gabriel Amadeus Tiller was actually mobbed by ferocious little girls, he barely made it out alive. The Car Wash teased us with it’s inconsistent flow, but the dancing couldn’t be beat. We had an impromptu detour to a new fountain, that sadly wasn’t turned on. Followed by the most glorious stop at the Ira Keller fountain, where the attached photo was taken. Finally we were foiled at the Lovejoy fountain which wasn’t on, but we didn’t let that stop our fun! The Thundertwins blew up the spot with their tandem music systems that were linked via an fm transmitter. Bathing suit clad folks danced and soaked up the rays in the sun-soaked courtyard until dinner called!

Dutch says:
best splash dance ever! At our peak there musta been 200 people. The dance tunes were rocked the whole way thru courtesy of the Thundertwins, debuting their new mobile FM station (start bringing anything that can pick up FM to rides!)

We hit six fountains, and each one was amazing. The weather was perfect, half the crowd had water guns, no problems with the cops, everything was pretty much perfect. We took some awesome group pictures, hopefully they get posted up soon.

Two or three dozen families were on hand for what is the first of many more spectacular Fiets of Parenthood events. Many families arrived with conveyances meant to carry two or more kids, prompting our out-of-town visitors to whisper amongst themselves, ‘wow, we don’t see such variety in Seattle!’ We had variety a-plenty, including both a boat and a pirate bike, and kids ranging from little eensy baby to tweens.
