Job Title: Float: Part-Time Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Assistant / Showroom Associate
Location: NW Portland, OR
Position Type: Part-Time- approx. 20-25 hrs/week
Job Overview: SimWorks is seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Shipping Clerk, Warehouse assistant, and Showroom Associate. This multi-functional role will allow a person to “Float” to help fulfill a range of necessary tasks- including but not limited to assistance in daily shipping operations, warehouse tasks, as well as in-person customer service and sales interactions within the showroom. Our ideal candidate is organized, enjoys working in a dynamic environment where their role and responsibilities can vary day to day, and is comfortable engaging with customers to promote products in the showroom. A person who enjoys riding bicycles, and a basic knowledge of bikes and what makes them work would be preferred in an ideal candidate. SimWorks is a small but growing business in the cycling industry, and our Portland operation is evolving into a hub for a range of e-commerce, as well as in-person sales and promotional activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Shipping Clerk:
Package and process outgoing shipments accurately, efficiently and up to in-house standards.
Prepare shipping labels and handle various carrier services (USPS, UPS, FedEx, etc.).
Ensure on-time dispatch of orders.
Track and help to maintain inventory of shipping supplies.
Communication with customers regarding their orders when questions, concerns arise
Warehouse Assistant:
Receive, unpack, and stock incoming inventory in the warehouse.
Organize and maintain inventory in an orderly and accessible fashion.
Assist with cycle counting and inventory management.
Work with warehouse management in establishing a barcode system
Ensure a clean and safe working environment by adhering to safety standards.
Showroom Associate:
Greet and assist customers in the showroom with product inquiries and sales
Provide product knowledge and recommendations to enhance the customer shopping experience.
Keep the showroom organized, well-stocked, and visually appealing.
Operate an espresso machine periodically / water some plants
Handle credit card transactions, and customer returns, exchanges if necessary.
Qualifications:
Prior experience in shipping, warehouse operations, or customer service is preferred but not required.
Basic computer skills for processing shipping labels and inventory management.
Basic knowledge of bicycle parts, their specifications and compatibilities
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Excellent communication skills and a customer-friendly attitude.
Comfort in interacting with a wide-ranging customer base
Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 75lbs) safely.
Schedule:
Flexible hours, approx. 20-25 hrs preferred- to be scheduled and coordinated with warehouse manager and general management. Potential for additional hours during peak seasons- as well as supporting events in the showroom space. Hours to begin will coincide with normal 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday business operations.
Compensation:
Negotiable/ Depending on Experience / $18 minimum
