Industry Ticker: BlaqPaks turns to Kickstarter for PDX Carpet bags

Southeast Portland-based BlaqPaks — makers of fine backpacks, messenger bags, and more — want to offer a full line of products in the style of the iconic PDX Carpet. To do it, they’ve turned to Kickstarter.

For more info, read their press release below…

For immediate release:

BlaqPaks #PDXCarpet-Cordura bags, handmade in Portland and guaranteed for life.

We’re landing #PDXCarpet on our guaranteed-for-life, handmade-in-PDX BlaqPaks.

Help us bring this custom-printed Cordura to life!

BlaqPaks has been hand-making custom, waterproof backpacks, messenger bags and accessories for 8 years. We just launched our first KickStarter to bring PDX carpet to our Cordura bags and hopefully add a few new tools to our workshop. Everything is made in-house on Division St. in the Ford building. With this project we’re one step closer to bringing our goods into more stores in more places than ever before. Check out our website or Kickstarter for more info about us and our project.

as first I thought “why would I want wet carpet weighing me down” and then realized they reprinted it on their bag material, so it’s not actually PDX carpet…

At first I thought Blaq Paks were a really cool, Portland grown and raised company. Now I realize they’re nothing but a bunch of carpetbaggers.

No link to the Kickstarter? (Yeah, I know, but I’m lazy…)

There is however a link to the blaqpak website, which itself has a big front-and-center link to the kickstarter. You have to click two times, which is far less effort than clicking in the comments field here, typing out the above comment text, and clicking on the ‘post your comment’ button, only to likely click through to the website and subsequent kickstarter link anyway.

This isn’t something that you can just sweep under the rug… I like them!

PS. I may be moving to China before the end of August… If anybody want’s to help me out with some luggage, this would do nicely!
