If you haven’t grabbed your tickets for Blazers Bike Night on November 2nd yet, now is the time to do it.
If you buy tickets through our special link — using promo code “bike” — through this Monday (10/6) you’ll be guaranteed to sit in one of the Bike Night sections. That is, our friends at the Trail Blazers have set aside a few sections of seats so we can sit together; but only if you get tickets by Monday.
Since our first announcement last week, we’ve made a few updates and some clarifications about what to expect the night of the event.
But first, I just want everyone to know why the heck I’m doing this: Not only do I love basketball and bicycling; but I want to help foster a stronger connection between cycling and Portland’s only major “big three” pro sports team (no disrespect to the Timbers). I think it just makes good healthy sense in many ways. The Moda Center is located smack-dab in the middle of what some people consider “the heart of Portland’s active transportation network.” Not only that, but the Blazers organization has tentacles that reach far beyond that of any bike advocacy organization (or their respective budgets), so, I think anything the team does to raise the awareness of bicycling is really valuable.
(On that note, we’ve already got some exciting new partnerships brewing for Blazers Bike Night #2 later in the season!)

Now, onto the updates…
— The deadline for tickets that will put your seats in one of the BikePortland Cheering Sections is this Monday, October 6th. So far we’ve got about 50 people on board and we’d love to see three times that many! So order your tickets now (with promo code “bike”) so we can fill up all the BikePortland sections.
— Thanks to our friends from Go By Bike! (the nation’s largest bike valet) and BikeRacker, we’ll have free, secure, and civilized bike parking (and gear storage) at the event. Just roll up and drop off your bike and let the Go By Bike! staff take care of everything.
— The Trail Blazers have made us a special reflective sticker. Everyone who bought a ticket will get one upon arrival at the Moda Center campus before the game.
— One lucky ticket buy for the November 2nd game will get a special, Blazers-themed helmet signed by LaMarcus Aldridge! The helmet is small and would fit a child probably 5-7ish, but even if it goes to an adult it would make an awesome souvenir.
— The game starts at 6:00 pm on Sunday night. We’ll meet at 4:30 at Peace Park on the corner of NE Lloyd Blvd and the Steel Bridge. We’ll do a quick rally, then mount up for the very short roll over to the Moda Center at around 4:45 or so. Bike parking will be set up in the plaza of the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. Once all the bikes are parked, you can make signs at the sign-making station, grab your pinwheel sticker, install a free Blazers Bike Bell, and soak up the atmosphere. We’ll announce the lucky winner of the LaMarcus Aldridge autographed helmet, take a group photo, then find our seats.
— This goes without saying, but don’t forget to wear Blazer or Blazer-inspired gear! Not only does that make things more festive, but it increases our chances of getting some quality time on the Jumbotron during the game!
I think that should do it for now. Stay tuned to @BikePortland on Twitter for other updates and we’ll post anything major here on the Front Page.
Thanks to everyone who has bought tickets so far! If you have questions about this event, please leave a comment and I will response.

i looked at tickets earlier… are there like four sections?
Hi Yellow Vest,
Sorry for the confusion… Turns out that the Blazers are holding a few different clumps of seats together for the Biking crowd.. Not one big clump like I had thought. So, just choose your section and it will all work out. Thanks for coming and let me know if you have any other questions.
“…I want to help foster a stronger connection between cycling and Portland’s only major pro sports team.”
Portland Timbers fans all shake their heads.
Ha! I hear you Patrick. I just added a few words to help with that.
I looove the Timbers! But I’m talking about the “big three” major sports of football, baseball and basketball. The MLS isn’t even in the same ballpark in terms of size/fan-base/marketing reach, and so on.
The link and promo code appear to not be working.
sorry about that yoyossarian,
Use think link – http://trailblazers.com/bike
It works! And thanks!
Hi Jonathan – That link doesn’t seem to be working either.
Might be a browser issue. Blazers tell me the Ticketmaster site doesn’t work with Internet Explorer.
I’m using Chrome. I’ll try later. Sure don’t want to miss out on this.
Thanks!
Sorry Jonathan, tried your link and typed in bike and it said it was a invalid code.
I can’t exactly say why this bothers me so much but it sure does. Portland is rapidly falling behind regarding cycling infrastructure and this is what we have to look forward to? I’m sorry – basketball is fine but surely there are bigger, and more neglected, issues out there. Aren’t there?
Matt M.
I’m not sure I catch your drift. This is just one event we are doing… It’s not like we’ve stopped doing everything else. If you’re not into it, you don’t have to go and you don’t have to pay attention. Thanks for the comment!
It wasn’t meant to be a shot at you.
I just bought tickets for my daughter and myself. I love with the awesome pinwheel reflectors and we can not wait to ride our tandem with everyone to the game. We might have to leave a little early to make it home as it is a school night but this is fantastic. Thanks for organizing this and I’m looking forward to November 2nd. We are in section 323.
Jonathan, did you get a chance to talk with the Blazers about educating their parking attendants on reducing right-hooks when cars turn into their parking garages from Interstate Ave? Seems this event would provide the perfect opportunity to discuss the issue. That’s a cool Blazer sticker BTW…
That sticker is so cool and retro…it almost looks like it popped out of a 25 cent vending machine in the late 70s.
My wife and I got our tickets. Looking forward to this event. And, yeah, I had to use Firefox instead of Chrome.
Did the block of tickets sell out? I was denied when trying to purchase, saying that the code was invalid.
Hi Robert T.
Please call Heather Reeder at the Blazers office and ask her about availability of Bike Night tickets. She could only hold aside guaranteed tickets for our group until October 6th. Our seats have been “released” to the public, but depending on demand there might still be some left.
Contact Heather via (503) 963-3963 or via email at heather.reeder@trailblazers.com.
Thanks for your interest and we’re looking forward to seeing you on 11/2!
We have some folks at my workplace trying to buy tickets as well and the code is not working. Any way they can extend the deadline once it gets fixed so we can all still sit together?
HDK – and everyone.
I apologize for the ticket-buying process not being as easy and smooth as it should be. The Blazers’ Ticketmaster system is sort of clunky. Thanks for sticking to it and supporting this event.
Please note that the Ticketmaster site does not work with Internet Explorer.
You can still get the discounted Bike Night tickets online – just $22 – up until the day of the game (11/2). Our group sales contact tried to hold as many of the seats together as she could. For this game, because she wasn’t sure how many people would come, she was only able to grab four sections of about 35 seats each. You can still buy the seats with “bike” promo code and you might get into one of those sections… it’s just not guaranteed because they have to “release” our set-aside group tickets to the general public.
We’re doing another Bike Night at the end of the season and we’ll be getting a larger cheering section and will have these kinks worked out.
Thanks everyone and we’re looking forward to seeing you on November 2nd!
Hi Jonathan,
Do you happen to know which sections are the bike sections? I’m late in hearing about this so I know tickets may be gone, but it would be awesome if we were able to seat with other bikey types. The ticket purchasing link you provided is showing availability in 303, 313, 318, 319, 320, and 323, and I was just wondering if you knew for sure that any of those were bike sections?
Either way we will proudly represent the cycling community! Thanks for doing this.
Hi Bethany,
Glad to hear you’d like to join us! AT this point, those are all “bike sections.” Our partners at the Blazers ticket office were not able to hold one large section for all of us this time (they weren’t sure how many tickets we would sell)… So just go ahead and buy in any one of the remaining sections and you’re almost sure to see some other Blazers Bike Nighters.
