Job Description
Chris King Precision Components™, manufacturer of bicycle components, is seeking qualified applicants for a Shipping position. The Shipper is responsible for accurately picking, packaging and shipping our components to customers domestically and internationally. This position is responsible for maintaining inventory of shipping materials and finished goods. A minimum of 2 years of experience processing domestic and shipments using USPS, UPS, FedEX and freight is required. Must have basic computer skills, ability to lift 50lbs, stand for long hours, organizational skills and work independently. International shipping and E-commerce experience is a plus.

The successful applicant will be team oriented, eager to learn, enthusiastic and a have a strong commitment to community, the environment and excellence in general.

3 lessons for Portland as Citi Bike struggles to break even

A Wall Street Journal report last week that New York City’s wildly popular bike share system has been operating in the red has, understandably, rattled the Portland transportation world as we wait for a similar system here.

I’ll start by rounding up the burst of media coverage, then offer some quick analysis.

The Journal report last Thursday, which we linked to in this week’s Monday Roundup, kicked things off. An Oregonian news roundup followed focused the blame on Alta, the Portland-based company that manages Citi Bike and has the contract for Portland’s future system. A follow-up editorial from the Oregonian called on the city to scrap its plan and put the money to other bike projects, seemingly misreading a recent bike sharing study to draw the conclusion that a Portland system is “almost certain to require a hefty annual operating subsidy from Portland taxpayers.”

Metro’s Regional Transpo Plan survey lets citizens set the budget

Metro is in the home stretch in updating their Regional Transportation Plan. The RTP is the major transportation plan of our region’s road and transit network that includes an influential project list and sets investment priorities for the next 25 years. Before a final version is drawn up later this year, Metro needs to hear more citizen input to help them fine-tune priorities and tweak policy language so that it aligns more closely with the people who will be most impacted by it (all of us).

To help kick off the comment period for the RTP, Metro has launched a new online survey. One part of the survey is an interesting exercise that turns everyone into a budget-maker.
