As usual, the Summit will feature an enjoyable and thought-provoking luncheon. This year’s keynote speaker is MIT Professor Eran Ben-Joseph. His new book, ReThinking A Lot (2012), considers the urban design possibilities of parking. There will also be research posters exhibited throughout the day, giving participants the opportunity to talk with the faculty and students investigating many facets of transportation in Oregon and beyond.

This year, we’re pleased to welcome Peter Plumeau (Resource Systems Group) to give the plenary address on “The Uncertain Future of Metropolitan Planning Organizations.” He will describe ways that Congress might impact the size, scope and number of MPOs in the U.S. as well as their responsibilities. Brenda Wilson (Lane Council of Governments) will serve as the discussant, sharing her views on regional governance.

The 4th Annual Oregon Transportation Summit will be held on Monday, September 10th, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Smith Memorial Student Union at Portland State University. Registration will once again be $100 for members of WTS, ITE or APA, $150 for non-members, and $50 for students.
