Book Reading: A Simple Machine
7:30 – 8:30, Powell’s City of Books (Burnside at W 11th)
Local author and editor of Boneshaker: A Cycling Almanac Evan P. Schneider will read from his newest book: A Simple Machine, Like The Lever. It’s a fictional tale whose main character goes about his life through the lens of bicycling. For more info read this short mention in The Oregonian.
Thursday, November 24th
Appetite Enhancement Ride
Meet at 10:00, ride at 10:30 am from the Red and Black Cafe (SE 12th Ave and Oak)
Downtown Portland is car-free on Thanksgiving morning. It’s a great pleasure to ride up and down 4th and Broadway, summit parking garages, and chat freely with fellow riders. Come out and get a taste of the Portland that could be ours. Forecast 40 degrees with rain. Expect about 10 riders. More info.
Friday, November 25th
Green Friday
Triple-points on your “buy local” Supportland Card when you shop on Green Friday and Green Saturday. Why support megabusinesses when you can support local businesses instead? Many bike shops are part of the Supportland network, including Clever Cycles, A Better Cycle, Sugar Wheel Works, North St. Bags and Queen Bee Creations. Also consider other thrift businesses like SCRAP and The Rebuilding Center. More info.
