at the PDX Bicycle Show on Saturday.

Sun, rain, snow…who cares. Lots to do this weekend including a couple races and one big tradeshow. Check out the events below and use the comments to share anything we left out. Good luck dressing appropriately.

Friday, April 8th

3:00-4:00 pm: Capital Bike Share – Lessons Learned
Start your weekend early at PSU for a discussion on bike sharing.

Saturday, April 9th

9:00 am: Coolest Trees in SE Portland Ride
Ride your bike with an urban forester to find the most notable trees in Sellwood, Reed, and Eastmoreland neighborhoods. Leaves from Sellwood Park (7701 SE 7th)

…or if road riding is more your thing, there are several rides scheduled outside of Salem including the Kings Valley race near Corvallis.

10:00 am – 6:00 pm: PDX Bicycle Show – Oregon Convention Center
Dozens of exhibitors from around the bicycle industry, live presentations, demonstrations, demo area. The family friendly event of the weekend. At the Oregon Convention Center (map). Tickets are $10.00.

Sunday, April 10th

5:00 am: Paris Roubaix Viewing Party
Come enjoy a live screening of the always epic Paris Roubaix road race on the big projector at Portland Bicycle Studio (1420 NW 17th)… “There will be coffee” the organizer says. (If this is too early, scroll down.)

Looking like a great day to spend huffing and puffing through the woods west of Portland.

Apex Bar (SE Division and 12th) is hosting a special screening of the Paris-Roubaix. Coverage begins at 4:00 and lasts three and a half hours. Bar owner Jesse says feel free to bring in food from other establishments and he’ll provide “plenty of Belgian beer to slake your thirst.” They’ve got tons of bike parking and they’ll even loan you a u-lock if you come in straight from a ride. (21+ only).

Monday, April 11th

6:30-9:00pm: Bicycle Touring Workshop
Why let conventional calendars stop your weekend bike fun? Let it roll into Monday with this intro to bike touring presented by the capable duo of Shawn Granton and Ian Stude.

Enjoy the weekend!

If you’re coming to Pedal Nation, stop by the Filmed by Bike booth to say hi and for a chance to enter to win free festival passes. We’ll also have those hot new posters with custom-made bike part typography and our stickers.

Neat way to screen out and miss the assistance of non-FB riders — link to a Facebook log-in instead of a page. Nice blog, though, seriously. Have a fun move!
