Weekend Event Guide

Time for some caroling.

It’s a relatively slow weekend for bike events, but the few that are scheduled should be a blast. Get in the holiday spirit, tour the new frontier of Portland’s bicycle system, or ride with friends to explore some great community resources.

Saturday, December 18th

10:00am-1:00pm: EPAP Winter Ride
Join the East Portland Action Plan on a end-of-year tour through the Hazelwood, Mill Park, Powellhurst-Gilbert, Pleasant Valley, & Centennial neighborhoods. Check out bike projects in the works, discuss new ideas, and enjoy the scenery of East Portland. Ride meets at Coffee’s On, 9738 SE Washington St.

1:45pm-4:00pm: Kidical Mass–Caroling Ride
What could be better than caroling with the kids on bikes during the holidays? Bring the little elves down to Irving Park and join the group on an easy-paced ride around the area to sing some tunes and eat some treats. Ride is free, bring a few bucks for a bakery stop.

3:00pm-5:00pm: Gay for Bikes
This monthly event is an opportunity for the local gay community to meet and ride to and discover some of Portland’s great LGBQT resources. Ride begins at SW Park Ave and Mill St and ends at Friend’s Coffee in SE Portland.

Sunday, December 19th

5:00pm: Holiday Bike Ride
Deck the bike and don the lights for this festive group ride-about-town. Santa costumes, candy canes, and other forms of merriment are encouraged. Ride meets outside Warner Pacific College at SE 67th Ave and Division, RSVP to julieiswriting(at)gmail(dot)com.
