Lots of great rides and events happening in the next few days. Check out the listings below to plan your weekend adventures.

Friday, February 5th

6:00 pm: Monthly Vegan Dinner Bike Ride
You don’t have to be vegan to join this fun social ride (but please don’t bring meat!). Follow @veganride on Twitter for the latest.

*PICK OF THE WEEK* 6:00 – 10:00pm: Bridgetown Hustle – Day 1
Presented by Backyard Blam, this two-day event is not to be missed. I’ve been watching the organizers prepare for this and it’s sure to be a lot of fun. Opening night includes an art show, bunny hop contest, trick competition and roller races. This is our pick of the week! Check out the cool flyer:

7:00pm: Festival di Ticino – A Benefit for the BTA
Local bike shop Bike n’ Hike — with sponsorship from Rapha, Ortlieb, Chris King and others — is throwing a party to raise money for the BTA and to showcase the awesome new line of “Ticino” bikes from Electra. Expect a killer raffle with lots of good bike swag. Admission is $4 and comes with Hopworks beer and a raffle ticket (add’l tickets are $3).

Saturday, February 6th

10:00am – 3:00pm: Specialized Bicycles Portland Job Fair
Here’s the word from local Specialized Bicycles consultant/desinger Bryant Bainbridge: “Specialized will hold a job fair in Portland looking for design, development, engineering & merchandising positions in footwear, apparel & equipment. The company is always looking for game changers across a variety of positions.” Come out to Marriott City Center (520 SW Broadway) for your chance to work for the Big “S”.

10:00am – 4:00pm (Sat. and Sun.): ReRack/BTA Used Roof Rack Fundraiser
Bring your used roof racks to the ReRack Warehouse (534 NE 18th Avenue at Sandy). The company will donate the value of all the racks to the BTA. It’s a win for the BTA and for a great local business.

10:00am: Two Buttes and a Volcano
The title alone on this one sounds like a great adventure. Here’s the description: “Ride up Rocky Butte, Kelly Butte, and Mt. Tabor. 15 miles, about 1000 ft elevation gain. Easy! Casual pace but not stopping much, just to regroup etc. It will probably be raining.”

10:30am: Wanderlust Men’s Ride
This week’s ride will amble along the riverfront with a lunch stop in John’s Landing or Sellwood. Follow the link for more details.

12:45pm – 5:45pm: Museums by Bike: Food & Drink
The latest in a regular series of rides by bike fun master Carye Bye. Learn about local museums via bike. Guaranteed to delight and amaze.

2:00pm – “whenever”: Bridgetown Hustle – Day 2
The second day of the event gets even better with a downhill slalom competition (no idea how they’re going to pull that off), “Dead Goat,” which organizers describe as “Two teams. One Goat. It’s like capture the flag on bikes,” a pump track and a “Sprint Grunge Match.” Check out BackyardBlam for full details.

Sunday, February 7th

2:00 – 3:30pm: Bike Camping 102
From the vast bike camping mind of the folks behind CycleWild comes a workshop just in time for planning your spring adventures. The focus will be on winter camping, but the basics will also be covered. You’ll get a handout with resources, you’ll learn a lot, and you might even meet a future riding companion or three.

4:00 – 7:00pm: The Hot Sock Ride
What could be better on Super Bowl Sunday (besides watching the game) than a fun ride with friends that ends with a special party at legendary headquarters of Sock Dreams! Wondering what to wear? Ride organizers say, “Don your nattiest knee-highs or your classiest crews, obnoxious over-the-knees, rockin’ rugby stripes or tantalizing tights — and come join us!”

More great rides on the Shift Calendar. Did I forget something? Fill me in via the comments or drop me a line and I’ll add it to the list.
