Description: This is a Woman’s Red Raleigh Pursuit. It was given to me by a friend, I don’t know the year or the serial, maybe the pic will help with the year? It’s medium sized, has one black and one faded, yellowish brake cable. Back wheel wobbles, back brake line recently replaced, so the brake is too loose because I didn’t do it correctly. You can call me too, Charlie at 503-502-7098

Vancouver (WA) gets a buffered bike lane of their own
The City of Vancouver announced today that they’ve installed a new bike lane along SE 20th Street (from 176th to 192nd) that includes a “buffer area between the bicycle and the travel lane.”
This is the latest in a string of bikeway news from Portland’s neighbor to the north. Last month we reported about a project to improve the dreadful crossing of the I-5 Bridge and a week later we shared news of Vancouver’s first on-street bike parking corral.
BTA survey results Part Two: Perceptions of the organization
Flaming Lips to throw party, screening for naked, bicycling extras
in his trademark bubble
By now the world has heard that the Flaming Lips were in Portland last month to film naked bikers for a music video for their new album, Embryonic (which incidentally has become the band’s first top 10 hit).
The video is now complete, and the band is throwing a screening and dance party this week to thank all the extras (and friends, and fans).
On Wednesday, October 28th, from 8:00pm – 11:00pm at Lolas Room, 1332 W. Burnside. 18 and older only. Party organizer Jillian Kelsheimer Sevick says to wear clothes, and get there early for swag and fun times.
Kelsheimer Sevick also cautions that due to the need to turn many hours of footage into a few minutes of music video, not everyone who showed up for the two days of shooting is visible in the final cut — but urges everyone to come watch the video and confirm your hopes (or fears).
There is also a Facebook group for shoot participants to stay in touch with the band and each other.
BTA shares results of ‘Bicycling Perceptions and Experiences’ survey
[UPDATE, 12:28pm: We’ve just published a separate story with more results from this survey that were not initially released.]
Results have been released from a survey conducted by the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) last August. The intent of the survey, titled Bicycling Perceptions and Experiences in Oregon and Southwest Washington, was to garner feedback and data on a wide range of topics related to bicycling, advocacy, and the BTA itself.
The survey had 2,002 total respondents, 1,000 of which are current BTA members.
From our European Desk: Bike parking pilot project at Raamplein
[This story is by Todd Boulanger, a former transportation planner for the City of Vancouver who has been soaking up the bike infrastructure of Europe. In this report he shares some views of a bike parking project at a public square in Amsterdam.]
