It’s been a long time since I mentioned my stickers and I’ve still got a few stacks of them sitting here in my office, so I figured a little sale was in order.
You might have seen them around town and now’s your chance to join the cool kids and adorn your bike (or car, or a stop sign) with a BikePortland.org sticker for the amazing price of 3 for $1!
They’re printed locally, sized to fit bike fenders (4.75″ x 1.5″) and I’ve got three designs to choose from:
Yellow-black-white Raleigh R500 road bike with Shimano Tiagra equipment. Bike will also have a cradle for a Vetta RT55 cycling computer.

On Wednesday nights the paved roads through Mt. Tabor Park in southeast Portland are closed to motor vehicle traffic and due to its urban location and natural beauty, it becomes flooded with many different types of users.
Dog walkers, skateboarders, and pedestrians all compete for space. Throw speeding cyclists into the mix (one was recently clocked going 37mph) and you’ve got a recipe for disaster.

Irked by the, “soooooo many people every day riding without a care in the world when their brains could be splattered across the pavement at any time!,” a member named “ephany” decided to start a thread titled, “Why don’t you wear a helmet?”
So far there are 83 replies and more keep trickling in every day.

UPDATE: Check it out online.
Watch your favorite newsstand or web browser tomorrow for the release of the Portland Mercury’s Bike Issue.
Mercury news writer Scott Moore, who recently wrote that he bikes because, “it’s fun and I love it,” gave me a little preview of what to expect:
Here’s an update to the story about a burglary at Weir’s Cyclery in St. Johns courtesy of Ira Ryan (who works in the basement of the shop),
“The cops recovered 10 bikes and most of the other stuff last night. The thief was a resident tweaker in St. Johns who the cops are on a first-name basis with.
He was trying to sell them in the plaza in downtown St. Johns and the cops followed him to his house (just 4-5 blocks from the precinct) where they found nearly everything that was stolen.”
Ryan says the bikes are a bit mangled and that the cops suspect that the remaining bikes were immediately parted out and sold.
