Northwest Portland resident and professional racer Doug Ollerenshaw finished second in today’s opening stage of the Tour de Georgia. The event is one of the premier races in North America and draws top competitors from around the world.

Ollerenshaw is riding for the Health Net Pro Cycling Team (presented by Maxxis).

Last year started out rough for “Doug O” when he fractured his hip in an early season race in Belgium. Later in the year, a gnarly crash in Australia landed his rear-end in the newspaper.

It’s great to see Doug returning to the form that has brought him some big victories in the past. I’m not sure what Doug’s secret is, but it might have something to do with his high-tech training equipment…

Congrats Doug! Keep riding strong and best of luck the remainder of the week.
