Tomorrow is the start of Shift’s annual Pedalpalooza, an unprecedented frenzy of bike fun.
I think we’re pushing nearly 150 bike events over the next 17 days. If you haven’t seen the calendar and mapped out your plan of attack, do it now.
Things get off to a rollicking start with tomorrow’s Kickoff Parade leaving from Jamison Square (NW 10th and Johnson). Get there at 5:45 to decorate your rig (compliments of SCRAP) and get ready for a fantastic, fully escorted, no stopping, take-over-the-streets spin through downtown.
To whet your appetite, feast on these photos from last year’s Kickoff Parade.
I’ve been trying to figure out how best to cover all the Pedalpalooza madness. Besides being at many of the events myself, here’s what I’m going to do.
Early each morning (starting tomorrow) I’ll post the Pedalpalooza Daily; a list of the day’s events. I’ll encourage ride organizers to leave comments with last minute info and details about their ride.
Then I’m hoping to get help covering the events from esteemed readers like you. To get an idea of what last year’s reports looked like, check out my ’05 Pedalpalooza Blog. It was a great way to share all the bike fun and check up on rides you missed.
So, if you attend a ride and take photos or just want to send me a report, please email me at jonathan @ bikeportland.org.
…stay tuned for tons of Pedalpalooza action!
Thanks for reading.

Let me know if you need something covered. I’m handy with a digital camera, and almost fluent in american english. Leaving for a backpacking trip to Alaska on the 23rd though.

There are actually 141 events on the online calendar, one was added yesterday and one today! This is about thirty more events than last year, the size of the printed calendar had to be expanded to get everything to fit (back when there were less than 120 events to print).
Jonathan;
I will be of course at the kick off parade. I’ll also stop at mocktales on the Hawthorne. I’ll then head to Office of Sustainable Dev for the celebration of Portland as #1 sustainable city
Saturday I’ll be at the trails ride with Amy Stork. Plus of course WNBR
So you don’t have to do to much.
