Bike projects get funded through CBO program

Last week, Portland City Council approved the final list of projects to receive grant funding through the City of Portland’s Community Benefit Opportunities program.

This program, which is administered by the City’s Bureau of Environmental Services, was created to fund community projects in neighborhoods impacted by the East Side Big Pipe project.

Donations large and small kick-start bike safety fund

Last week, the Bike Gallery announced the formation of a bike safety fund as a memorial to Brett Jarolimek.

Barb Grover, who’s managing the fund, says donations from the community have already begun to roll in. She was particularly excited about a sizable gift from Northwest Portland-based bike parts manufacturer Chris King Precision Components.

Chris King has announced a $5,000 donation to the fund and has pledged another $5,000 in additional matching funds. (The Bike Gallery already plans to match first-year contributions up to $10,000).
