Not the hottest day, but still lots of fun

Hottest Day of the Year Ride 2007-9

The sun didn’t come out much yesterday, but that didn’t stop us from having fun on the Hottest Day of the Year Ride.

It was great to see many kids and families on the ride. At one point, my and my girls were in a group with about six other parents pulling kids in trailers and tag-along bikes.

One memorable moment was the entrepreneurial family in north Portland who pre-empted the official rest stop with a lemonade and cookie stand.

The leisurely urban tour was fun, but the real action was at the finish line. Kids (and parents) ran wild amid towering bowls of ice cream and streams of water from friendly squirt gun fire. No one was safe (or dry).

For photos of all the action, view the gallery or watch the slideshow below:

Nice job CCC, but after a mild "Coldest Day"... and "Hottest Day...", I think you need to have a "Pleasantest Day of the Year Ride", guaranteed the weather will be nasty!

I told CCC that they need to get with the whole climate change thing.
Advertise the hottest day of the year ride in February, and the worst day of the year ride in August.
