My 2003 bianchi road bike (light green) was stolen yesterday in broad daylight, they cut through my wire lock, on 8th and Davis.

White Peugeot fixed gear, older style ~70’s, a ratty body geometry seat, suzue basic track hub on sun rim for the rear wheel, SR cranks with a red crank bolt cover. It had a horn with a rattling mounting, and the bar tape is ripped and falling off (it’s white too). It was accidentally left unlocked in front of the eastport plaza movie theater around 10:30 pm, July 16th. It was my friend’s bike, her name is Megan Harrington. The bicycle was locked with an Onguard Doberman Cable Lock – 8mm.
What should we do now?
The situation with Jammin’ 95.5 and their Playhouse morning show continues to escalate. The posts have been linked to from all over the web, I have talked with the head of the League of American Bicyclists, the BTA, PDOT, and the local media. The word is spreading very quickly.
The problem is that I’m not sure where to go from here. This is where being the editor of this site gets tricky because I am both a community advocate and a journalist. While I want to do what’s in the best interest of the community, I also want to keep you informed as much as possible. The trick is to do this without inciting any more anger.
It’s a learning process for sure.
Holladay Park welcomes weary cyclists
Yesterday thousands of cyclists rolled down Highway 30, crossed the Broadway Bridge and rolled into Holladay Park near the Lloyd Center. The occassion was the 27th annual pedaling pilgrammage known as the STP or, Seattle-to-Portland bike ride.
Organized by Cascade Bicycle Club, STP has become an institution for thousands of Northwest cyclists.
From what I heard it was a near-perfect event. The weather cooperated and so did a nice, northerly wind all the way from Seattle.
Sprockettes launch new website, coming to NPR show

The Sprockettes, Portland’s very own mini-bike dance troupe, have finally hit the big time. They will be the subject of an upcoming segment on the national NPR show Day to Day.
The producer was down from Seattle over the weekend to get audio for the story at a Sprockette’s performance.
It’s no secret that I’m a huge Sprockettes fan so this is great news.
Also, in anticipation of the show, the girl’s have just unveiled their new website at Sprockettes.org. Go check out their website and stay tuned for an update with the link to the show.
