Stolen: Schwinn road bike

Black schwinn road bike was stolen Thursday the 1st of June between the hours of 9am and 3pm from a garage on Broadway and SW Stark. Locked with a cable lock. It is from the 80s and has front and back black fenders. It is a small mens road bike, black, and in good condition.

Susan Otcenas has a keen eye for erratic drivers. She’s logged thousands of miles on her bike, riding between her business in Hillsboro and to meetings in and around Portland.

Last Sunday night, while driving, she watched in horror as the car in front of her struck a cyclist riding in a bike lane on TV highway in Beaverton…and then kept on going.

Bike art garden comes to local school

Last Friday, Nikkie West of the Community Cycling Center put the final touches on a bike art garden at Abernethy Elementary school in Southeast Portland.

The garden includes six artistic sculptures (see them all) made from recycled bike parts and was a collaborative effort between West – the CCC’s recycling coordinator – and Beret Halverson. Beret (pronounced Brett) and Nikkie met in Americorps and now Beret is in charge of Abernethy’s organic garden.
