JOB OVERVIEW: This seasonal team member is responsible for writing and editing product descriptions on Velotech’s e-commerce sites. The Copywriter is tasked with researching upcoming products and technologies and developing unique, compelling written content. Product copy on the Velotech sites is designed to build each site’s brand, boost SEO performance, and maximize sales. This team member is also tasked with providing additional writing support to the marketing team such as short form copy for email, print, and web marketing campaigns. The copywriter will also contribute to larger marketing & sales efforts such as promotional planning, strategy development, and the development of website and email content designed to educate and engage current and potential customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
● Author descriptions for new product on BikeTiresDirect, Western Bikeworks, and AthletesLounge.com, rewrite existing copy as needed, contribute to various Velotech marketing projects
● Establish and maintain a consistent “voice” for each site that’s knowledgeable, yet conversational and humorous
● Work within the existing format and style guide for the Velotech family of sites
● Extensively research new items using catalogs and vendor resources. Physically inspecting product, reading industry blogs, and using various other channels will be occasionally required as well.
● It is vital to be savvy about tracking down info and verifying its accuracy
● Report to the Director of Purchasing
● Work alongside the Purchasing, Marketing and Creative Services Departments to efficiently manage workflow on a first in, first out basis. Descriptions for product scheduled to arrive sooner will take higher priority over later shipments. Rush jobs are also a certainty in this position
● Help develop ideas and strategies on how to better communicate/engage with the customer base for each of the Velotech sites
● Research and compose website articles on products, DIY service and industry trends leading to higher levels of customer engagement/conversion
● Cross train within the Purchasing department to take on additional responsibilities including: ETA updates, Product Creation, Special Order Administration and other duties as needed

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
● Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, marketing/Advertising, Business or Public Administration
● Two to five years of increasingly responsible relevant work experience
● Must have strong bike industry/product knowledge

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
● Superior written communications skills
● Working knowledge of basic HTML & CSS
● Familiarity with writing for e-commerce sales
● Experience authoring informational content for publication
● Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task
● Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills
● Ability to work effectively prepare and present information to various groups
● Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision
● Ability and willingness to handle rapidly changing priorities in a fast paced environment
