Welcome to your menu of weekend rides and events, lovingly brought to you by our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery.

Looks like we’ve got another weekend of stellar weather ahead. Might as well take advantage of it with a bike ride right?

If you don’t already have something planned, perhaps we can entice you to one of the rides below. Whatever you do, have a great weekend!

Friday, February 20th

Dropout Bicycle Club Ride – 9:00 pm at Colonel Summers Park (SE 20th & Belmont)
Join the Dropouts for their monthly “freakbike social ride.” Show off your latest creation and/or check out what other two-wheeled creations other people have dreamed up. The ride will go late and you will have fun and/or an adventure. More info here.

Saturday, February 21st

Freeride Trail Work Party – 8:45 am at Stub Stewart State Park Welcome Center
Help keep the flow trails at Stub Stewart nice and smooth and fun. Show up ready to work with the NW Trail Alliance. They’ll provide tools and instruction, you provide the work. More info here.

Java Lava Ride – 9:00 am at Java House in Vancouver WA (210 W Evergreen Blvd)
Join Jeff from the Oregon Human Powered Vehicle Association for an exploration north of the border. They’ll venture out on a loop around Lower River Road then stop for a break downtown. More info here.

Western Bikeworks Shop Ride – 10:00 am at the shop (NW 17th and Lovejoy)
A flat jaunt out to Sauvie Island “with a twist” is planned by ride leader (and Western Bikeworks employee) Maria Schur (who does a great blog of her riding adventures over at BicycleKitty). Expect about 45 miles at a conversational pace. “All paces and bike types are welcome,” Maria says. More info here.

Sunday, February 22nd

NW Trail Alliance Sunday Group Ride – 8:00 am
This week’s group mountain bike ride with NWTA will venture out to Tarbell Loop or Falls Creek or… you decide. Ride leader Dmitriy Zasyatkin is taking suggestions. More info here.

Jack Frost Time Trial – 8:00 am at Vancouver Lake Park (Vancouver, WA)
It’s the start of the road season! This is a time-honored tradition where local racers ride solo, against the clock, on a wide open course around Vancouver Lake. Brought to you by the Beaverton Bicycle Club. More info here.

Faux Chilly Hilly – 9:30 am at Wait Park in Canby (3rd Ave & N Holly St)
If you can’t make it out to Bainbridge Island (west of Seattle) for the real Chilly Hilly, our friends at the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club have you covered. They promise “all the same attractions and excitement right here in Oregon.” Expect a 38 mile route and bring $2 to ride the Canby ferry. More info here

Looks like an awfully uncomfortable riding position.

Slow day at work so I keep refreshing the BP front page. Am I the only one? If you do too, you noticed the leading picture changed…curious as to why 🙂

Not quite a “weekend” event but there is a FREE 3 week Basics of Bike Touring class starting on Tuesday 2/24 at 7PM in Oregon City. 3 Tuesday nights in a row followed by a weekend, try it out tour on March 14-15 if any of your readers are interested.
