What: Bikestravaganza: Off the Chainring in Portland—Grand Finale!
When:Sept. 10th 7:00pm – 9:00pm
Where: Madison’s Grill: 1109 SE Madison Portland, OR
Event Details: Please join us for the final, hometown event of our grand tour of the upper western region of the U.S. On our tour, we’re using movies and pictures to tell the story of transportation activism in Portland, and hearing from locals what their bicycle scene is like and what they’re doing about it.

For our Portland event we’ll share some of what we’ve seen and learned—the best and the worst, the most harrowing and most inspiring, from Spokane to Reno, Cheyenne to Provo, Seattle to San Francisco.

Jonathan Maus will emcee the event and moderate a discussion about what Portland might be able to learn from the rest of the country when it comes to bicycling.

Boneshaker Almanac editors Evan Schneider and Melissa Reeser will join us as well for a spirited reading from their popular publication.

The Microcosm Publishing zine trike will be on hand for all your bicycle-themed book, zine, movie, and sticker needs.

$3-10 sliding scale at the door. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in the conversation.

Burgundy Fuji Absolute 2.0 2009

Buffered Bike Lane with a bike symbol and arrow pointing forward

Year: 2009
Brand: Fuji
Model: Absolute 2.0
Color:Burgundy
Serial: ifcj9co8299
Stolen in Portland, OR 97212
Stolen:2010-07-23
Stolen From: Third and Burnside
Neighborhood: Burnside
Owner: Milo Cutts-Carey
OwnerEmail: mcuttscarey@gmail.com
Description: My bike, a magenta colored, fairly new, Fuji Absolute, was stolen from a bike lock-up a block North of the Burnside Bridge, parallel to the Eastern side of the Burnside Bridge Skate Park. The lock-up was near a building that looked like it was recently a business but is now abandoned and a movable chain fence. In front (to the East) there is a large empty field and behind are some bushes with a rough trail behind them leading down to a warehouse. My bike is has a grey milk cart attached to a black rack on the back of my bike with hose clamps. On the back of the milk crate there was a ripped and peeling bumper sticker that was green with white letters that read “Recycle Yourself” and had a picture of the recycling emblem. The larger part of the bumper sticker was ready to fall off and I’m not sure if it will still be on the bike or not. There was a black water bottle holder on the lower part of the bike and the chain showed slight signs of rust. Unfortunately, the reason it was stolen was because I had accidentally left my keys in the lock, which means the perpetrator probably still has the lock and key (if it is of any use I can supply you with the extra keys I have). The lock was a black lock with a thick, black, ridged, and bendable wire (for lack of a better term) that ended in a lock that the wire could insert itself into. The lock at the end was covered in black plastic that was slightly chipped at the bottom. A helmet was also with the bike. The helmet was a silver ski-style helmet, not usually used for biking, with yellow designs and various stickers on it. It had a black padded inside that was attached to a white Styrofoam piece that could be pulled out of the helmet. The keys taken with the bike had the bike on them, an old bike key and three other house keys.

What are your plans this weekend? The weather looks to be delightful here in the Portland region. Got any bike adventures in mind?

The Portland Bridge Festival kicked off yesterday. It’s sort of the Pedalpalooza of bridges, with lots of fun events planned for the next two weeks. I know a lot of people are heading down to Falls City for the Northwest Trail Alliance’s Black Rock Shuttle Day fundraiser. Tonight I might roll downtown and check out the Ironclad Street Sprints in the Pearl District.

Description: Some poor unsuspecting soul took my Black and grey Giant Mountain bike while I was playing pinball at Ground Control on Thursday night. It has a yellow Jackpot Records sticker and a white Meat Cheese Bread sticker on it. Also, it is CURSED!!! My friend borrowed it and his girlfriend developed a speech impediment, another rode it and got MERSA. Even my wife rode it and she could not find a parking spot for a week. I could go on, but whoever took it needs no convincing. Their life has already taken a turn for the worse. Do yourself a favor and ditch it in a well lit public area asap.

If spotted, approach cautiously, and email me at your earliest convenience.
