BikePortland has confirmed that a man died in his tent Thursday night in Grants Pass while participating in the Cycle Oregon ride.
Someone on the ride first told us about the situation Friday night and then confirmed the death with official EMTs. This morning, I spoke with Cycle Oregon ride director Jerry Norquist. Norquist confirmed that the death occurred on Thursday and that the Grants Pass Police Department is doing an investigation.

Today, Park(ing) day brings an expanded (and rebranded) regional parks network
Today, Friday September 18, livable streets enthusiasts across the United States are celebrating Park(ing) Day — with many locations around the Portland region.
Started in 2005 by San Francisco public space activist group Rebar, Park(ing) Day is a grassroots, unscripted opportunity for anybody to temporarily take over a car parking space and turn it into a place for people to gather (feeding the meter of course) — whether a sod park, a picnic table, or a miniature cardboard village. Participants often include activist groups, architecture firms, and creative professional offices.
