‘Cross movie screening will benefit Bikes to Rwanda

Pure Sweet Hell movie poster.

Bikes to Rwanda, a Portland-based non-profit that provides cargo bikes to cooperative coffee farmers in Rwanda, is hosting a special screening of the highly acclaimed cyclocross film, Pure Sweet Hell.

The event (this Thursday from 5-8pm) is being billed as a kickoff party for the Cross Crusade race series (it’s starts this weekend!), but more importantly, it’s a fundraiser for the great work being done by Bikes to Rwanda.

Here’s the event flyer (download larger PDF):

Pure Sweet Hell at Plan B
A benefit for Bikes to Rwanda
Plan B (corner of SE 8th and Main)
    5pm-8pm Happy hour

[Note: I realize this is the same night as the special Bike Porn event at the Hollywood Theater. My advice (if you’d like to do both) is to swing by Plan B, drop a few dollars in the Bikes to Rwanda tip jar, and then ride over to watch some Bike Porn.]

Since when did Portland have numbered streets? The correct address is 1305 SE 8th Ave, at SE 8th and Main.

Thanks so very much for this extremely important work that you are doing! We work with survivors of the genocide who are primarily subsistence farmers. They work very hard, as do the coffee farmers, They are so poor that they are frequently malnourished. To help them, we send money directly to Rwanda for them to buy goats and even cows. We are all volunteer and do not have the huge overhead costs of the big NGOs, Please visit our website http://www.GoatsforGifts.org, This is a great holiday or birthday gift,or celebration gift for a great bike ride, and will change lives. Thank you.

This film is a great way to get ready for Cross Crusade (walking around in this rain will help too. Bring on the mud!).

Following this cool event is the official kick off party on Friday at Roots Organic Brewery.

Starts at 7. Pics and vids from cross ’07 will help set the mood for Sundays race.

Hope to see you there.
