Bicycles bloom in Portland spring
The recent, warm spring air has transformed Portland from dreary to delightful. Bicyclists are dusting off (or drying off) their steeds and taking to the flower-filled streets.
Visions of spring are everywhere.

Major burglary hits hard for bike industry veteran
Dave Hemming, a 35 year-old bicycle industry veteran who works for Marin Bicycles, just moved to Portland a month ago.
He and his wife Molly moved all their belongings into their southeast Portland home on February 25th and then finished up some business back in northern California.
On Saturday March 10th, while they were still in California, their home was completely ransacked and burglarized.
“It’s just insane, they took so much…it’s such a harsh introduction to Portland.”

Fixed gear bill gets public hearing

Since Ayla Holland’s seminal case last July there has been confusion in the courts and on the street about whether or not fixed-gear bicycles must have a separate hand brake.
Construction zone becomes ticket zone for cyclists
As I reported last month, the Portland Police Bureau is on heightened alert to give out tickets in the MLK Viaduct construction zone near OMSI.
