Job Title – Assistant Shop Manager

Job Description
Based in NE Portland, the Community Cycling Center is a unique nonprofit offering bike safety education programs and community bike shop services to the Portland Metro area. More than just a “retail bike shop,” we offer bike safety education and earn-a-bike programs to the Portland Metro area.
The Assistant Shop Manager is an entry-level store management position. The Assistant Manager will assist the Shop Manager and the Bike Production Manager in driving sales and service, and supervising shop staff. Additional duties include scheduling, timekeeping functions, payroll control, inventory management, and retail sales and outreach. This position entails minimal mechanical work.
Duties

-Acts as a liaison between Shop Manager and shop staff: implements directives as assigned
-With direction from the Shop Manager, oversee daily retail and general shop operations
-Maintain records of services provided
-Maintain records of and issue receipts for donated bikes, parts, and accessories
-Maintain records and track inventory of sale bikes and accessories
-Reconcile the cash register
-Assist the Shop Manager with staff training and continued education/professional development
-Set expectations for and provide a role model of excellent customer service
-Present CCC program information to the public, act as an ambassador of the CCC
-Creates a welcoming, clean, organized, and well-stocked environment for the customer.

-Desire to work with the public and a friendly outgoing attitude
-Systems oriented: organized with high attention to detail
-Strong interpersonal skills
-Basic retail sales skills
-Experience implementing/overseeing shop policies
-Experience with cash control procedures
-Basic PC skills, working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
-Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
-An enthusiasm for our mission
-A respect for, and commitment to, diversity, teamwork, and progressive social values
-Previous experience in retail management preferred; bike shop experience preferred
-Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

PAY RATES & BENEFITS
Hours: 32-40 hours per week (0.8 – 1.0 FTE)
Pay: $11.00/hour
Schedule: Weekend and evening availability required
Position Term: Regular Permanent, Exempt
