Oregonian covers stolen bike story
It’s been forever since I last posted a stolen bike recovery story.
This time, the story comes from S. Renee Mitchell’s column in the Oregonian last week. She has the story of Erin Greeson’s high-end carbon-fiber racing bike getting nabbed from New Seasons in Sellwood:
Stolen Marin Eldridge
(SE – near the Bagdad)
Hey CLers~~
Need people to keep their eyes out for my bike, stolen from my basement in the past 24 hours. Please call the cops, or me at 503-757-0227 if you have seen it, or have any info that could lead to its recovery.
The bike is a larger, gray/smoke colored Marin Eldridge mountain bike and it has red bar ends, a sign on the handlebars, “FIRE THE LIAR!”, political stickers about 911 Truth and Impeachment, toe clips, dual purpose tires with knobs on the corners, LX componentry.
Someone stole a blinking rear light off the bike in my basement last Monday, and I left a note chastising whoever did that petty bullshit move. I took that down and replaced with a sign asking people to make sure the door out of the basement is always shut firmly. That door was open/ajar 3 times yesterday, but the bike was still there. It was gone this morning by 11:30am.
I hope to find the douchebag that thinks s/he has any right to my property, and I will see that they face some serious reprimand.
If anyone knows of places where bike thieves fence or dismantle bikes, please call.
Thanks,
S

TriMet’s shares light rail construction bike detours
Between March 2007 and spring of 2009, TriMet will be constructing the new I-205 MAX line that will connect PSU with points east to Clackamas County.
A reader just forwarded me a two-page info sheet that details the bike path detours along the 6.5 mile stretch.
You can view the map on TriMet’s website (opens to a PDF).
They also detail improvements ODOT will make to the multi-use path once the light rail line is completed. Among them is a new bridge:
“A new elevated crossing will be constructed over SE Foster Road and SE Woodstock Boulevard, increasing continuity and safety for pedestrians and bikers.”
Stay up to date with the project at TriMet.org/i205.
