Check out this cover photo (below) of the May St. Johns Sentinel. It features Shawntae Wilson and her Britney Bike. According to the Sentinel:
“She also has a DVD player attached to the handle bars so she can listen to Britney and watch her videos while she rides.”

Shawntae is destined to be a bike fun superstar…we’ve got to get her out on the Pedalpalooza Kick-off Parade!

Shawntae rules! While her bike is the most visible extension of a complete obsession with girl culture icons, it’s just one small part of the whole. Her room is wall-papered floor-to-ceiling with Britney/Lindsey/etc. imagery, which she constantly updates and manipulates. I’ve admired her home-grown aesthetic for ages, (which can be seen frequently around MLK and Broadway — her hood — look for the glow of the DVD player). She’s a really sweet girl who has created from scratch her own special scene, which just happens to include a highly customized bike…her main mode of transportation.
So cool, I see this girl all the time riding around the Broadway area. I remember when her bike had only a few pictures in the spokes…
Nice, friendly girl. I always say hi when I’m out riding and run into her. You’ll notice her bikes revolving themes. I think it was all Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen last time I had a good look at it.
Shawntae and her bike was the first of “bike culture” I encountered in Portland, OR. She came head on at me with those covers facing full frontal while weaving her way southbound on the MLK sidewalk. And Woah! She had such a charming smile! I, fresh from farm country, would have thought she were insane riding so boldly in this rough part of town if it were not for the presence of a warmly emanating heart. Shine on Shawntae!
Shawntae has a posse. Watch out Andre! We were just talking about her last night. A group of us, just sittin’ round the table talkin about bike culture. It’s hard not to notice her. We couldn’t stop raving about this girl and her bike. Shawntae, if you’re reading this..we think you’re awesome!!
I love Shawntae! Makes me proud to live in NE.
