A small social media application development company in the Pearl District will host a First Thursday event next week featuring five local, up-and-coming bike builders.

The show, hosted by the StepChange Group (500 NW 9th Ave.), is the brainchild of StepChange director of technology Michael Jones. Jones is a web developer who you might remember as the guy who created the (now defunct) stolen bike listing tool, Finetoothcog. He’s also co-founder of the Unicycle Bastards and helped get Portland’s Ghost Bike movement off the ground.

Jones — who can be seen rolling through town on his Xtracycle tall-bike, Surly Pugsley or unicycle — tells BikePortland that he and his office-mates have been wanting to do a First Thursday event for a long time and they, “Wanted to do something more interesting then hanging paintings on the wall.”

On August 6th, from 6-9pm, StepChange will display bicycles made by:

As usual with First Thursday events, adult beverages (beer) will be provided. The show will happen on August 6th from 6pm to 9pm. More details and an event flyer on the StepChange blog.
