Our friends over at TriMet are looking for some help with their bike facilities and other bike-related projects.
They just listed a want ad for a Bike Programs Intern. Here’s the job description:
The Three Bridges Project might have had its official opening back in October, but that event was marked by wind, rain, and speeches by planning wonks and political bigwigs.
It was great (if you’re into that sort of thing), but on Saturday it was the public’s turn to celebrate and instead of wind, rain and speeches there was sun, smiles, and free cookies.
Giant OCR C2 black carbon bike with blue stripes, blue handle bar tape, missing front wheel. Bike may have new set of wheels or mismatched set. misc… view point light, mars taillight, black wedge seat bag and cat eye wireless trip computer.

Are you bike polo curious, but not quite ready to mix mallets with the Axles of Evil? If so, than you’ll want to check out Portland’s only bike polo for beginners.
It happens every Tuesday night from 6-8:00pm on the tennis courts just north of Shattuck Hall at SW Broadway and SW College streets.
Here’s the word from polo coordinator and PSU Bike Co-op manager Ian Stude:
“We play every week, unless it’s really raining. Bikes, Mallets, and Instruction are all provided. Participants only need to bring close-toed shoes and some moxie. Everyone is welcome, especially beginners!”
Brand new men’s cruiser or townbike.
Dark green, 3 speed, mud guards on wheels and chain. Tan seat.

Portland Mayor Tom Potter has released a long-awaited report on his VisionPDX project. The 16 page report shares some of the results of the project’s “conversations with the community,” and is billed as a “brief sketch of what’s important to Portlanders.”
Naturally I was curious if it contained anything about bicycles and/or transportation. Here’s what I found.
The Traffic Division of the Portland Police Bureau have officially assigned an investigator to get to the bottom of the hit-and-run incident involving a bike and pickup truck I reported on last week.
On May 9th, Dustin Kent was riding on the path over the Columbia River when he says a full-sized Nissan pickup somehow gained access to the path and tried to run him over. Kent claims he was forced to jump over the path’s railing (and onto the shoulder of the freeway) to avoid being hit.
Word about the official investigation came just this morning from Traffic Division Commander Mark Kruger. He said he’ll keep me posted on any developments. The Traffic Division has a solid record of successful investigations and I’m sure they will get to the bottom of the incident.
It was another very busy bike weekend.
You know the drill. I’ll mention a few events, and hopefully you’ll share your adventures and reports in the comments. Ready. Set. Go…
Things got started early Saturday morning with the annual Reach the Beach ride. Riders from all over Oregon descended on Pacific City to raise money for the American Lung Association.
