City asks for input on bike rental RFP

Posted by on March 14th, 2007 at 1:19 pm

As I reported last month, Commissioner Adams is serious about bringing a bike rental program to Portland.

I just got an email from Max Coffman from Adams’ office. He has just published the Request for Proposals (RFP) for a potential bike rental system in Portland.

Here’s an excerpt from the post:

“On a trip to Lyon, France last Spring, Sam experienced the Vélo’v short-term bike rental system. Automated kiosks around Lyon give users access to well-maintained bicycles that they can return to any of the secure stations in the system. The Lyon system has over 2000 bicycles, which are used for more than 22,000 rentals per day, and make up a pollution-free component of the city’s public transport system.”

He’s asking for public input, so go check it out.

NOTE: At BikePortland, we love your comments. We love them so much that we devote many hours every week to read them and make sure they are productive, inclusive, and supportive (heck, sometimes we even fix your typos!). That doesn't mean you can't disagree with someone. It means you must do it with tact and respect. This is our business and we do not tolerate mean commenters who add nothing of value to the discussion.

Unfortunately, we are not robots and we don't always catch everything. You can help by notifying us if you see inappropriate comments. Thanks! — Jonathan and Michael

You do a great job here. This site always scoops the others, like with this and the SK stuff.

Sounds like a great opportunity for some local entrepreneurs…. anyone?
