TA’s “25 x 25” campaign is an inspiring push for people-centered streets

There’s been a lot of talk in Portland in recent years about the need for transportation reform advocates to take a more intersectional, coalition-oriented approach when pushing for big changes.

The NYC 25×25 campaign launched Monday by New York City-based nonprofit Transportation Alternatives looks to have set the standard by which all such efforts will be judged. It’s one of the most bold, exciting, and inclusive advocacy efforts we’ve ever seen.

We are hiring for a seasonal part time mechanic. You will be working with the public, doing sales, bike builds and repairs. You must have prior experience.

Looking for 4 days a week, including Saturdays.

Must be comfortable working with customers.
Comfortable working on all types of bicycles.
Loves to work in a clean organized environment.
We are looking for a punctual and enthusiastic bike person.

We currently are not open to the public. We have a check in window, and work with our customers outside.

Compensation starts at $15 per hour.

OBRA sees light at end of Covid-induced racing blackout

If all goes according to plan there will be robust cyclocross season this year.

That was just part of the good news shared by Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) Executive Director Chuck Kenlan in a letter to members on Monday.

It has been a roller-coaster of a year for OBRA, Oregon’s sanctioning body for bike racing. When the reality of the pandemic hit last March the organization laid off staff and cancelled dozens of scheduled events (their main source of revenue outside of membership fees). Now as Covid-19 vaccinations work their way through the state, the hibernation of competitive cycling might come to an end before the end of this year.
