What can be a lot of fun is sitting as a panel interviewer for the final bunch of candidates for city director positions. I was the “citizen” for the interview panel at PBOT that eventually chose Leah Treat (she was our second choice out of 6, but we were pretty sure the #1 would turn Portland down, which he in fact did.) I highly recommend you try getting on that BPS interviewing panel as a “citizen”.
I took a look at the CoP link and I was pretty shocked at how many important bureaus are looking for new leaders…almost a re-boot of the City:
– DIRECTOR OF BUREAU PLANNING AND SUSTAINABILITY
– DIRECTOR OF THE PORTLAND BUREAU OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
– DIRECTOR OF THE OFFICE FOR COMMUNITY TECHNOLOGY, and of course the one we all know about…
– DIRECTOR OF PORTLAND BUREAU OF TRANSPORTATION
