The 2008 Mt. Hood Cycling Classic Needs Volunteers and HostsThe Mt. Hood Cycling Classic, a Gorge classic, is back again this year and kicks off in less that a month! This world class professional cycling race gears up Tuesday, May 13 and finishes on Sunday, May 18. Check out all the details on line at: www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com. The competition is now ranked at the top of the men¹s pro circuit and the Pro Women’s race, the top women’s race in the USA, will be a qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics. To make the race a success we need community support in the form of volunteers out on the race course and local families to host racers traveling from all over the world.
The race will start in Portland with a Naito Parkway Prologue on May 13, followed by the Stage 2 Mt. Tabor Criterium, on May 14. The challenges mount when the race makes its way up the Gorge to the flanks of Mt. Hood on Thursday, May 15 and concludes on Sunday, May 18 in Hood River.
The race cannot operate with the generous support of community volunteers and hosts. Over 420 volunteers make the race possible! If you have volunteered in the past, thank you and please come back and do so again – your experience is essential to make this year’s race the best edition to date. If you are first-timer, being a part of the race is the most thrilling way to experience the Classic – ask those who have volunteered in the past.
